Exam tips!!! The monologue
You have to make a 4-6
minute oral presentation of a topic
following the task proposals. You will be allowed 4 minutes to plan your speech
and write an outline. The teacher will assess you in terms of how you do
the following:
1. Your speech is well organised. This could be a typical outline:
a. Introduction
What is the topic of your speech?
Why should the audience listen to your speech?
What will your main points be?
b. The body
What are your main points and ideas (sub-topics)?
What is your supporting evidence and information
(sub-sub-topics)?
What are the causes and possible solutions to this
problem?
c. The conclusion
What were the main points of your speech, and what
do you want the audience to remember?
2. Accurate pronunciation, fluency, correct rhythm
and intonation and gestures (non-verbal communication)
3. You should make the proposed speech and stick
to the instructions
4. You should use connectors to
link the different parts
5. Use appropriate vocabulary and register. The
vocabulary must be appropriate for the situation and it should be presented in
a critical and creative way
6. Use a wide range of words and expressions to
explain the topic, using synonyms, antonyms, metaphors, etc. Your language
should be idiomatic and rich in ideas
7. Add comments, cultural background, extra details,
etc
8. Use a wide range of
structures, making no mistakes

Pruebas de Certificación
- Prueba escrita: Día 20 a las 16.00 horas
- Prueba oral: Día 21
El tribunal examinador tanto en la prueba escrita como en la oral estará compuesto por UN profesor que, por lo que al Departamento de Inglés se refiere, será distinto al profesor que hayáis tenido durante el curso. Esto es debido al poquísimo tiempo de que dispondremos, siguiendo órdenes de la Consejería de Educación. Si el número de alumnos para examinar se aproxima al del año pasado, cada profesor tendría (en el nivel intermedio, por ejemplo) hasta 30 alumnos en una tarde. ¿Qué pasará si no da tiempo a examinar a todos durante esa tarde? No lo sé, sinceramente
Los alumnos oficiales NO tienen que rellenar impresos ni pagar ningún tipo de tasas
Como consecuencia de la tardanza en la publicación de la Resolución sobre las Pruebas de Certificación por parte de la Junta de Castilla-La Mancha, se retrasa el inicio de dichas pruebas y, como consecuencia, las clases con los diferentes grupos van a continuar con el siguiente calendario:
- Grupo alterno de lunes y miércoles: Habrá clases normales los días 3 y 5 de junio. El lunes día 10 haremos otra prueba-modelo de Reading y Listening, y veremos las respuestas en clase
- Grupo alterno de martes y jueves: Habrá clases normales los días 4 y 6 de junio. El martes día 11 haremos otra prueba-modelo de Reading y Listening, y veremos las respuestas en clase
- Grupo diario: Habrá clases normales los días 3, 4, 5 y 6 de junio. El lunes día 10 haremos otra prueba-modelo de Reading y el martes día 11 de Listening, y después veremos las respuestas en clase
- Prueba oral: Día 21

Important update about the oral exams in May!!!!!
I've decided to change the format of the oral exams / practice for the May tests. The written exams remain unchanged. There will be oral practice with the whole class and not students in pairs, as it's difficult to organize not knowing how many students will be coming (and how many will keep me waiting or make me change things in the last minute, as it usually happens!!!). Please you need to prepare a presentation of a topic of your choice and talk for 5 minutes in front of the other students. I'll explain in class, anyway.
